Peter Slavid’s Folk Hour: Sunday 11.00 – 12.00
Peter has been a fan of folk music since the days of protest song in the 1960s. He was a trustee on the board of the English Folk Song and Dance Society for six years, is a regular at folk festivals, and is one of the organisers of the successful Uxbridge Folk Club.
This show focuses on the live music you can see in our area and beyond over the coming week – there are lots of clubs and venues in West and North London, including Uxbridge, Harrow and Twickenham. The music varies from acoustic traditional song to exciting folk-rock, and there’s always some political or protest songs in the mix.

Peter Slavid’s European Jazz Hour: Sunday 12.00 – 13.00
Peter has been listening to modern jazz as a fan for over 50 years. In 2003 he helped set up London’s F-IRE collective – a group of young musicians who revolutionised British Jazz at the time. The business and it’s record label has won two Mercury Award nominations and several BBC Jazz Awards, and to date has issued almost 100 albums.
Just over 10 years ago Peter started writing for London Jazz News and others, and broadcasting about his favourite music. There’s no smooth jazz or soul in this show – this is avant-garde modern jazz from British and European musicians who are experimenting and developing the music – it’s exciting and complex, and sometimes difficult – but well worth persevering.
Peter’s show is always broadcast first on 91.8 HayesFM, but is then also broadcast on several other internet stations and is available to listen at any time on www.mixcloud.com/ukjazz
